Words from us…
Wayne’s World
Hello September! We
have chosen prebiotics and probiotics as this month’s theme of discussion. The
first feeds and helps establish the latter. Most of us are familiar with the
friendly acid-loving bacteria, including such well-known species as
Lactobacillus acidophilus
and Lactobacillus bifidus. Remember that good flora is an extremely important
component of optimal digestion. These “digestive flora”, if you will, secrete
digestive enzymes and vitamins, and compete with less desirable bacteria. Good
health prevails when the friendly bacteria in the GI tract are properly
colonized and ill health often is the result of too great a colony of bad
bacteria. It is no slight exaggeration to state that human health is improved by
ensuring the presence of friendly bacteria in the colon and elsewhere.

The Evelyn Files…
May I
suggest you read Beyond Probiotics by Ann Louise Gittleman (M.S, C.N.S.)
In this book you will discover information on HSO’s-Primal Defense. The
following is a quote from “Garden of Life” literature: “Primal Defense is
a natural whole food probiotic blend of HSO’s (Homeostatic Soil Organisms)
designed to optimize the health of the human digestive tract and immune system.
Primal Defense is produced using the Poten-Zyme process and the
Microflora Delivery System. Primal Defense contains the same nutrients
that have been used for thousands of years by some of the healthiest and longest
living people in the world.” Please stop by the store and pick up a free copy
of the Townsend Letter which outlines Jordan Rubin’s health problems and his
fantastic experiences with the HSO’s.
Good health to you always. Evelyn J

answers questions:
Q:
What is the difference between prebiotics and probiotics?
A: Thousands
of species of beneficial bacteria inhabit our colons that perform multiple
functions including control of yeast growth, vitamin synthesis, immune
stimulation, and detoxification. Like all other living things they must be fed
to survive and to thrive. This is where prebiotics come in. Prebiotics are food
for the bacteria that inhabit our colons. Most of these bacteria feed on large
sugar molecules, such as fructooligosaccharides (FOS) and fibers. These long
chain sugar molecules are collectively known as prebiotics. Probiotics are
supplements containing strains of some of the beneficial bacteria that normally
inhabit the colon. Acidophilus is the best known, and widely used, of the
probiotic bacteria. Prebiotics may be used alone, or in conjunction with
probiotics. The advantage of prebiotics is that prebiotics stimulate the growth
of all of the strains of beneficial bacteria, as where probiotics can only
replace a small number of the different strains of bacteria. On the flip side,
probiotics are faster to work than prebiotics. – James Sloane

Wisdom
Is there a
magic pill?
Yes! the magic pill is out there in the form of Super Foods, nature’s true
silver bullets. What are Super Foods? Super Foods are bee pollen, chlorella,
spirulina, wheat grass, barley grass, alfalfa, etc., foods that are superior in
nutrition, body balancing, body rebuilding, and life nurturing. These are the
closest things in nature to a magic pill. Super Foods support the whole body and
are complete foods by themselves, great for rebuilding the friendly flora. Look
for these Super Foods to give you more energy and vitality. Come by
