Words from us…
Wayne’s World
The
adrenal glands are triangular-shaped organs resting on top of each kidney. Each
gland is compromised of two parts: the cortex or outer section and the medulla
or central section. The adrenals have a multitude of functions; maintaining
salt and water body balance, metabolism of carbohydrates and the regulation of
blood sugar. The functioning ability of the adrenal glands is impaired by
long-term use of cortisone drugs. Continuous and prolonged stress can be very
detrimental to the adrenal glands, impairing their functioning ability.
Smoking, alcohol, drug abuse, and poor nutritional habits can also contribute to
adrenal failure. Reduced adrenal function may be indicated by weakness and
lethargy, dizziness, headaches, memory problems, allergies, food cravings, and
blood sugar disorders. In addition to the herbs and supplements recommended by
our staff in this Wellness issue, avoid alcohol, caffeine, tobacco, fried and
highly processed foods, sugar, and white flour, that is, basic stuff. Consume
plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, mainly dark leafy greens, and once a week
minimum eat deep-water fish for the Omega 3’s. Most of all take positive action
to relieve stressful situations. Do moderate exercise and use supplemental
nutrients. Steps must be taken to protect our adrenal glands or they can
become exhausted.
Thank you so much for your patronage. Stay Healthy!
Gwen's Pet Tips:The adrenal glands
secrete hormones, which include cortisone and adrenalin. Problems arise when
the glands produce either too much (Cushing’s Disease) or too little cortisone
(Addison’s Disease). In Cushing’s, symptoms include; increase in appetite,
accumulation of fat, hair loss and a bloated look. In Addison’s, the animal
becomes weak (sometimes not able to get around), vomits, and can be very
depressed. There is not enough cortisone or chemicals being produced to
maintain correct salt levels in the body. Cushing’s and Addison’s are common in
dogs, but rare in cats. I feel if we keep our animals on a good diet, pure
water, supplements, (including greens), they have a much better chance to keep
their body balanced and avoid getting these and other diseases, just as we do.
“Barley Cat” and “Barley Dog” are great choices for your animal. Also, try
boiling parsley for 3 minutes, cool and keep in the refrigerator for them to
drink on occasion. It is also a good beginning for a parasite cleanse.
Remember, your best friends need you to choose carefully for them to stay
healthy!
Jenny's Jive: The
adrenals, two glands above the kidneys, affect almost all body functions. The
adrenals produce the hormones that deal with all the stress we endure. Adrenal
hormones are important for the regulation of energy levels , blood sugar ,
hormone levels, stress levels, & immune system response. A well balanced diet is
essential to adrenal health. Potassium is very important to the adrenal glands.
Fruits & vegetables are good sources of potassium. Some vegetables high in
potassium are: carrots, corn, potatoes, tomatoes, asparagus, lima beans, &
spinach. Apples, apricots, bananas, cantaloupe, oranges, peaches, & strawberries
are fine examples of fruits that are high in potassium. Chicken & fish are also
good sources. Keeping your salt intake low will also help avoid potassium
deficiency. Pantothenic acid is also extremely important for the adrenals, & is
in whole grains, lentils, beans, peas, cauliflower, broccoli, salmon, liver,
tomatoes, & peanuts. Other nutrients essential to the adrenals are: essential
fatty acids, amino acids, & the minerals zinc, selenium, & magnesium. Cut back
on red meat, fatty foods, alcohol, & caffeine. Stress is the primary culprit
that wears down the adrenals. Learning stress modification techniques is
crucial in restoring adrenal vitality. Moderate exercise, such as walking, is
very relaxing & beneficial for adrenal health.

Speaking Words of Wisdom
Lifestyle stress is the
leading cause of adrenal exhaustion. Avoiding or neglecting relaxation can be
serious to your health. Take a deep breath, for breathing is the fastest way to
eliminate stress. Sitting &
moving Chi kung (energy work) are excellent tools to balance the effects of
stress on the mind, body & spirit. Chi kung kidney & adrenal healing
associations are as follows. The healing mantra (sound) is Oo as in “Sue” or
“Fu”. The healing color is light blue to cobalt blue. The negative emotions are
fear & criticism & the positive emotions are gentleness & sensitivity. A quick
Chi kung exercise tip; sit or stand & begin to exhale the negative emotion of
fear out of the kidneys & adrenals using the sound Oo. Next, inhale the positive
emotions using the healing color blue, filling the kidneys and adrenals with a
warm feeling. Use the affirmation;
Divine action is always taking place
in my life. This can be
very beneficial when you’re stressed or over worked. Tonic herbs like
astragalus, schisandra, licorice root, etc. have proven benefits for adrenals.
If your looking for a great formula try “SUPREME
CHI-FLOW”
by Warrior Mystic
Formulas. This is supreme for nourishing the adrenals and promoting energy
with no stimulates. Foods that are high in pantothenic acid (B-5) are very
important as well, like almonds, avocados, salmon, sardines, etc. Minerals
magnesium, calcium, zinc, potassium, etc. are highly beneficial. Sea vegetables,
algaes and cereal grasses are nature’s highest source of minerals including all
trace minerals.
“5GREENEST”
by W.M.F supplies all these and more. Remember all healing should include
body, mind, & spirit.

Nik Notes: Imagine
a day where your energy is unlimited, you have no allergies and you feel great.
Now you can make it happen by following my friend’s advice, and it will be so.
The steps you can take are simple and effective, for these changes will be a
positive in your life regardless of your current level of health. By avoiding
the materials that can compromise adrenal activity you can affect a positive
change. There are many parts of the human body that are constantly in decline,
but the adrenals do not have to be among those body parts! Most damage done to
the adrenals is self-inflicted, so relax, drink less coffee and you can feel
better if you want to.
