Essential Fatty Acids can be difficult to take. Swallowing oil is not the most exciting thing to do on a Saturday night, but there are ways to make the process easier. Use bread to soak the oil up, because this makes the bread tastier and the oil goes down nicely with it. Make a fruit juice/ oil cocktail: mix oil and juice in equal parts and drink fast, for both will separate quickly once mixed together.

My favorite book on the brain is Your Miracle Brain, by Jean Carper. The author states that you can use foods and supplements to Maximize BrainPower * Boost Your Memory * Lift Your Mood * Improve IQ and Creativity * Prevent and Reverse Mental Aging. On pages 333-342, Jean discusses some of the do’s and don’ts concerning brain nutrition. This wonderful book is really worth reading, so stop by and pick up a copy, today.

Q: What herbs do you recommend for improving memory?
A: My favorite herb for improving brain function is periwinkle. Periwinkle increases blood flow to the brain more efficiently than any other herb known. In addition, periwinkle increases the use of glucose and oxygen by the brain, improving overall brain function. Periwinkle has also been shown to be highly beneficial in post stroke patients. Periwinkle itself has become very difficult to come by, though many manufacturers are now offering an extract of the most active component of periwinkle, vinpocetine. Other herbs I highly recommend to improve brain function are bacopa, gotu kola, and ashwaganda. If you can properly pronounce these herbs your brain is working properly and you probably do not need these herbs! Lecithin is another one of my favorites. Lecithin is a fatty acid that helps to make up much of the nerve tissue in our bodies. Lecithin is a great source of phosphatidylserine, building up brain tissue and phosphatidylcholine, which is used in the formation of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine.

Tarah’s Corner- Feed your brain and use it! It’s the best way to get long-term brain enhancement. The brain needs to be nourished with vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and antioxidants. Essential Fatty Acids are great for the brain because our brain cells are about 60% EFA’s. Using your brain is important too. By playing mental games, such as crossword puzzles and reading, you can exercise your brain and build it. Deep breathing also works great by giving your brain cells more oxygen to work more efficiently. Stay cheerful, optimistic, and try to relax, for these ideas optimize better brain function and a healthier lifestyle.

Positive mind affirmations can and do boost brain power!
Thoughts can effect your learning capabilities, healing potential, the ability to store and remember information, and all physical actions. If you charge yourself with an I can do anything, heal myself, change for the better attitude, then the brain responds. The brain sends out signals (chemical reactions) releasing hormones and other bio-chemicals that influence the whole body. Visualizing yourself smarter and stronger with more energy does in fact contribute these qualities to your being. Water is the most important element to fortify the brain. Water is magnetic and can be charged with energy, influencing the body on an ethereal level. Taking all of this into consideration, get into the habit of thinking positive when drinking water and other liquids. See yourself filling up with light, becoming younger, healthier, more loving and contributing to worldwide peace.

Nik Notes: Schoolwork has never been my area of excellence, especially memorizing information to be retrieved at a later date. A few semesters ago I discovered the wonders of DHA. This essential fatty acid helped me to remember information I didn’t even need to know, and for a semester I wasn’t late to a single class. I have tried other memory formulas, but in my opinion nothing works as well as DHA.
