Jenny's Jive:
You can use diet to
aid your immune system in two ways: by eating the right foods and by avoiding
the wrong foods. Fruits, vegetables, and complex carbohydrates such as grains
and whole wheat breads are great. Keep fat intake low, and get plenty of fiber.
Certain vitamins and minerals are especially good for the immune system. These
include the B vitamins and vitamins A, C, and E, and the minerals potassium,
copper, iron, and zinc. Certain foods should be avoided. These include foods
with simple sugars. When you digest sugar, the activity of a certain type of
disease-fighting white blood cell slows down. Remember, if you eat sugar
throughout the day, you slow down your immune system throughout the day.
Exercising also helps boost the immune system. With exercise, some of the
white blood cell components of the immune system circulate throughout the body
more quickly, which means they have more opportunities to combat viruses and
bacteria. Relax! This means sleep, low stress, and a good attitude. When we
sleep, our bodies recharge themselves. This means repairing tissue, healing, and
fueling cells and organs. Sleep may be the single most important thing we can do
to help our immune systems. To conclude this passage, don’t forget water! A
dehydrated body provides the perfect environment for viruses & bacteria to
survive, a hydrated one doesn’t.

Positive Vibrations:
Bacteria, fungus and viruses live with us on a daily
basis. We all have them, but it is how well we take care of ourselves both
mentally, physically and spiritually that determines the quality of our lives.
Thinking positive thoughts, saying kind and uplifting things to people and
eating healthy brings about abundant energy and health. Balancing nutrition with
adequate amounts of exercise to increase your circulation is important to your
health. Circulation is the “key” to healing quickly from accidents, sports
related injuries, disease and illnesses. Increasing the heart rate on a daily
basis will not only energize you, but also will increase brain function,
increase cardiovascular health, increase the efficiency of all your organs and
help all the supplements and herbs that you take work faster and more
effectively. Circulation will also increase your digestion, which has a direct
relationship with the immune system and also increases the strength of the
immune system. 80% of all diseases in American society can be traced back to
colon health and 80% of your immune system is found in your colon. Enzymes are
usually associated with digestion, but when enzymes are taken on an empty
stomach they increase circulation, reduce inflammation of any kind, speed up the
healing process of injuries or surgery, make your vitamins and minerals work,
and increase the health and function of every organ.
Enzymes are also naturally
anti-viral. Other anti-viral herbs and supplements include oil of oregano, olive
leaf extract, astragalus and garlic. Supplements like maitake, reishi and red
marine algae are also very good for the immune system.

Speaking Words of Wisdom
Positive thoughts destroy and always prevail over negative ones!
Affirmations for great health; “I feel strong, healthy, and energized”, “I know
true health comes from sunshine, clean water, rest, fresh air, exercise and
diet.”
No matter what you say or do, what you think creates reality! Optimism leads to
success.
Remember STRESS is the biggest culprit of all disease, so learn to live
in a positive mind frame all the time.
“Daily Balance” by Earth Healing
Formulas is a great herbal formula for stress and has antiviral immune
enhancement.
Fortify your immune system before you get sick!!! Herbs like olive leaf,
astragalus, and garlic can do wonders for preventing the seasonal flu. Lemon
balm makes an excellent tea for fighting viral infections. Mushrooms like
shiitake, maitake, cordyceps and reishi have powerful antiviral properties.
There are many nutrients that have proven anti-virus capabilities like bee
propolis, red marine algae, colloidal silver and humic acid. Vitamin C alone is
effective against most viruses. Use sea greens and green products to alkalize
the body and speed recovery time. Chi-kung (energy breath or energy work) is
well documented for its immune fortifying powers. Look for a qualified teacher
or read a book and start today. Chi-kung is effective the moment you take a deep
breath and RELAX. There is scientific evidence that people with a better sense
of humor also have longer and healthier lives. Your "stay healthy" plan should
include a joke and a good laugh everyday. Venturing out in to nature is the
ultimate body-mind-spirit balancer.
