Words from us…
Wayne’s World
Energy, now that’s a subject that
perks interest in people! Energy is one thing busy Americans need most. Energy
makes the world go ‘round, and in our human bodies, energy metabolism begins
with digestive enzymes breaking down food. Get some and take them with your
cooked food. A good, proper diet for the individual and supplementation, plus
those enzymes, are used by the body to begin and maintain the process of Kreb’s
Cycle. This is where ATP, produced in the cells mitochondria, releases the
energy necessary to make the heart beat, allow respiration or fuel any other
physical task. ATP production cannot occur without the ingestion of enzymes,
vitamins and minerals, all of which play a role in bioenergetics.

The Evelyn Files…
Linda R. Page gives us
practical and concise information on energy in her book Healthy Healing
(pp. 378-379). She outlines her nutrition plan, super foods, bodywork and
vitamin/herb supplementation suggestions for healthy energy. Linda lists the
five most common energy depleters, which are as follows: lack of sleep, stress,
adrenal exhaustion, thyroid malfunction and overuse of stimulants. Stop by our
store and familiarize yourself with Linda’s excellent
research in Healthy Healing.

answers questions:
Common causes of low energy include low
thyroid or adrenal function, poor diet, an overburdened liver, and lack of
sleep. Thyroid problems are difficult to diagnose, and even harder to determine
their cause. Hypothalamus, pituitary, adrenal problems, can all cause low
thyroid function as well as estrogen dominance, chlorine or fluoride exposure,
and lack of iodine intake. The best way to determine if hypothyroidism is
present is to do what is known as basal body temperature (Call or e-mail us for
this procedure). If your body temperature runs consistently below 97 degrees
this indicates a low thyroid. Parsley and alfalfa can be used to assist the
pituitary to form thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH). Dulse can be used to
provide iodine so the thyroid can form triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4).
If the problem is due to the autoimmune condition Hashimoto’s thyroidosis then
the adrenal glands should be addressed. The adrenal glands help to maintain
energy by the formation of epinephrine (adrenaline). Stimulants work in part by
increasing the release of epinephrine, though long term use of stimulants can
lead to adrenal exhaustion and a drop of energy. B vitamins are also important
for energy since they are needed for the conversion of carbohydrates into energy
and for detoxification of the liver. “B’s” also benefit the nervous system,
which may help with proper sleep patterns.

Tarah’s Corner-
There’s no doubt about it, stress and fatigue are major concerns in America
today. Eight out of ten Americans complain about stress and/or fatigue in their
everyday lives. Maybe we should consider Bee Pollen. Bee Pollen has been
called nature’s perfect food. It is very rich in vitamins and contains almost
all known minerals, trace elements, enzymes and amino acids. It builds the
immune system and provides “positive” energy for the body. Bee Pollen aids the
body in recovering from exercise, returning breathing and heart rate to normal,
and improves endurance for repeat exertion. Bee Pollen is available at

Speaking Words of Wisdom
Energy is the word
that describes the capacity for
work or vigorous activity.
Want to build more vitality and flow through life with clean, clear, and lasting
energy? Superior tonic herbs are a real
answer to building up and storing more overall energy and having superior
health, balancing the bodies five organs systems (heart, lung, kidney, liver,
and spleen). These herbs are more
specialty, high nutritional foods than they are medicines, safe for long term
daily use by virtually everyone.
Superior tonic herbs are defined as agents that invigorate, strengthen and
balance one or more of the three treasures (jing, chi, and shen). Jing is life
essence that we inherit at birth, chi is daily energy we acquire from breathing
and from food, and shen is our energy that drives mental, emotional and
spiritual pursuits that reside in the heart, according to TCM (Traditional
Chinese Medicine). Some of these herbs
are Siberian ginseng, schisandra and
astragalus, to name just a few.
