Words from us…
Wayne’s World
If you want to live a more
vigorous, less-diseased life, antioxidants should be a part of your nutritional
program. Antioxidants unite with oxygen and protect cells and other body
components from being destroyed or altered by oxidation. Too much or too little
oxygen creates toxic by-products called free radicals that can damage cell
structures and lead to premature aging, impair immunity, alter DNA codes and
result in degenerative disease. Antioxidants quench free radicals and
neutralize their damage, rendering them harmless. Many people already know
about antioxidant vitamins and minerals such as vitamin E, selenium,
beta-carotene, and vitamin C. Greens like alfalfa and barley grass are potent
antioxidants. Pycnogenol, CoQ10, germanium, gingko biloba, glutathione
peroxidase, superoxide dismutase (SOD), astragalus, methionine, licorice,
cysteine, egg yolk lecithin, wheat germ oil, octacosanol, GLA, mushrooms
(shitake and reishi), tyrosine, and DMG are all antioxidants you can use for
protective health care and healing. Berries and fruits are receiving great
media attention as antioxidants fighting free radicals. Inquire of our
wonderful staff about these superstars, and check out our powerful antioxidant
formulas by Jarrow, New Chapter, Natures Way, Trace
Minerals, Carlson, Life Solutions, and Premier Labs.
You will do well to recognize the validity of antioxidants to reduce disease and
their role in anti-aging research.
Thank you so much for your patronage. Stay Healthy!
Jenny's Jive:
Foods
are full of antioxidants. Whole grains, broccoli, & cucumbers are great sources
of selenium. Selenium protects the body from free radical & heavy metal damage.
Some foods high in vitamin E are almonds, apricots, & peanut butter. Vitamin E
neutralizes free radicals against aging. Beta carotene boosts the immune system,
protects against pollutants, early aging, & allergy control. Food sources are
yellow & orange fruits & vegetables, & sea greens. Foods high in vitamin C are
strawberries, kiwi, grapefruit, & bell peppers. Vitamin C boosts immune
strength, protects against infections, safeguards against radiation, heavy metal
toxicity, environmental pollutants, & early aging. Vitamin C is essential in
forming new collagen tissue, supports adrenal & iron insufficiency, especially
when you’re under stress. Now that you’re equipped with the knowledge of what to
feed your body, thanks for taking time to feed your brain!
Jeff's Positive Vibrations:
In today’s society we are exposed to a
variety of chemicals, toxins, pollutants, artificial colors and flavors in our
food, water and air. Allergic reactions to these chemicals are multiplying and
are now called a “silent epidemic”. Irritants range from household cleaners,
chlorine bleach, laundry detergents, fabric softener, nail polish remover,
paints, synthetic perfumes, moth balls, etc. These irritants are just
chemicals. Repeated chemical exposures set off excessive free radical reactions
as well as allergic responses which has caused a rapid growing list of health
problems. We also have to fight food allergies and seasonal allergies which
compound the problem. What is worse is that our bodies use up enormous amounts
of antioxidants and nutrients trying to detoxify us from the chemicals,
nutrients that could have been used to keep us healthy. Blue-green algae like
chlorella and spirulina are very good sources of antioxidants. Organic fruits
and vegetables are also good sources of antioxidants, as are grapefruit seed
extract, amla and grape seed extract.
Emily's Ideas:
Beyond the scope of some of the more commonly
recognized antioxidants, such as certain vitamins and minerals, lies another
source, our herbal allies. Herbs
provide extremely high amounts of antioxidants, so if you’re already getting
your essential nutrients through your diet or supplements, it may be time to
look further into the world of herbs.
The following are some superior antioxidant rich herbs, along with some of their
additional properties. ALFALFA is
rich in chlorophyll which heals damaged tissues, promotes new growth of healthy
tissue, and builds blood strength.
GINGKO BILOBA stimulates circulation and brain function.
TUMERIC not only stops free radical damage, it also prevents them from
occurring and can improve the body’s own antioxidant capabilities.
CHAPARRAL contains NDGA, an antioxidant and anti-tumor agent.
Chaparral also increases vitamin C levels in the adrenal glands.
So eat your fruits, veggies, and your HERBS too!!!!

Speaking Words of Wisdom
Antioxidants
are a class of vitamin-like nutritional ingredients that help fight and rid the
body of free radicals
(the highly reactive, destructive substances that can cause untold damage to
your body). The importance of antioxidants is accepted by even the most
conservative medical fields. People find great benefits from these nutritional
ingredients for achieving optimum health, from warding off heart disease to
slowing degeneration of the brain and eyes. Discussion of the health benefits of
antioxidants is quite common today. Antioxidants are found in fruit, vegetables,
cereals, and to a certain degree in all foods. Antioxidants are also found in
highly concentrated forms of dietary supplements. Research suggests that a diet
rich in fruits and vegetables has additional benefits because of lesser-known
but potent antioxidants in food that have a combined effect greater than that of
any single nutrient or individual antioxidant supplement. Foods and herbs that
are very high in antioxidants and some of my favorites are goji berries, noni,
mangosteen, turmeric, and dark chocolate. Looking for a great antioxidant
