ALLERGIES
Words from us

Wayne’s World
If you suffer from windblown allergies, look out this year! Las Vegas has experienced a great deal of rainfall this winter, more than I’ve seen since my 1971 arrival in the valley of fun. That spells big trouble for many people as the trees, plants, grasses, and weeds bloom and grow vociferously. What to do? Some basics are plenty of hydration for your body, the old minimum of six to eight glasses of water daily, rest more and take a basic multiple vitamin two or three times a day for an array of nutrients. Eat well also. People with allergies suffer from weak adrenals, which also translates into fatigue. Pantothenic acid, Siberian Eleuthero, Vitamin C or Amla and Nettles come quickly to mind to strengthen adrenals. Remember that Stay Healthy! has an arsenal full of formulas for allergies. “ Las Vegas Mix” by Dolisos contains homeopathic ingredients to fight tree allergies like mulberries, olive trees, and those pesky oleanders. Use quercetin products such as Solgar Quercetin Complex with vitamin C and bromelain. New Chapter has a terrific product called “Breathe” from medicinal mushrooms.  Nature’s Life has “Bromelain Sinus Ease”, Nature’s Way has “Sinustop”, and Natural Care has “Sinufix” which Dr. Bob Martin touts extensively.  My point is that Stay Healthy! has what an allergy sufferer requires without using drugs which come with mean side-effects.  Use these natural remedies in safety and use them frequently. Next November start using Las Vegas bee pollen and honey on a daily basis to desensitize yourself to spring allergies.  That works also, but must be taken two to three months ahead of time. Call us now at 877-2494 and ask questions of our staff.  Start immediately to help your body during this stressful, pollen-laded season.
Thank you so much for your patronage. Stay Healthy!

Jenny's Jive:    Are you suffering from nasal congestion, watery eyes or coughing?  Tis’ the season for allergies, the inappropriate response by the body's immune system to a substance that is not normally harmful.  Allergens are the substances that provoke allergic responses.  Allergies affect our quality of life & productivity. Fortunately there are a number of herbs & supplements that can be taken to minimize the symptoms of allergies.  Bee pollen & quercetin can help to stimulate proper immune function.  Herbs can be used to help with the symptoms of allergies.   A person suffering from frequent allergies should consider strengthening their adrenal glands. The adrenal glands control allergic responses, as well as produce the hormone that helps our body deal with stress. Strengthening them would be getting to the source of allergy problems. There are many supplements & herbs available for allergy relief, all of which can be found nestled on the shelves of Stay Healthy!

Jeff's Positive Vibrations:  An allergy is an inappropriate response by the body’s immune system to a substance that is not normally harmful. The immune system is a highly complex defense mechanism that helps us fight infection. It does this by identifying foreign invaders and mobilizing the body’s white blood cells to fight them. In some people, the immune system wrongly identifies a non-toxic substance as an invader, and the white blood cells overreact, creating more damage to the body than the invader. Thus, the allergic response becomes a disease in itself. To help with allergies, foods that are high in B vitamins and vitamin C like fresh fruits and vegetables will help, and taking green foods, brown rice whole grains and legumes. Cut back on fatty foods, red meats and processed foods, especially those high in sodium and sugar. Also try to exercise regularly and drink lots of fluids, especially water. Here at Stay Healthy! our knowledgeable staff will be more than happy to assist and recommend some very effective supplements and herbs to keep the “ah” and not the “choo”.

J.C. Speaking Words of Wisdom
Do you want to help your stress levels, cope with your allergies, and have the ability to adapt and be calm in any situation? Having a great attitude is one way to keep yourself balanced. Using will power and brain power to influence hormonal response has been used for thousands of years in the form of visualization. Seeing yourself strong and healthy is a must in today’s negative media-filled society. 100% fact is that your breathing influences your mental, emotional and physical bodies. Adjusting your breathing can balance your response to outside influences no matter what they are. Breathe before you think is an old Chinese proverb showing the power of breath. For the physical body to run smoothly and adjust to a changing world, the adrenals must function properly. The adrenal glands are small glands that rest on top of the kidneys. The outer part, the cortex, produces cortisone or steroids. Its’ job is to maintain the body's sodium, potassium, sugar and hormone levels. The inner portion is the adrenal medulla. It secretes adrenaline and nor-adrenaline that support the body through situations of fear, worry, stress or anger; it is the "fight or flight" hormone. These glands provide us with the hormonal support that is required by the body to get through the day. Strengthen and balance the adrenals with high- powered herbal foods that contain many concentrated vitamins and minerals plus a host of other natural compounds. Special tonic herbs to note are Siberian Eleuthero, Amla, Astragalus, Schisandra, Ashwaganda, and Licorice Root (Chinese). Look for Warrior Mystic Formula’s “Adrenal Balance” to aid you with stress, allergies and over all well-being.
Chi-kung and other stress reducing exercises can help tremendously with allergies. Ask me for some tips.

Knowledge applied is wisdom…

Nik Notes:  Most allergic reactions are due to suppressed adrenal function, so it makes sense to give the adrenals nutrition.  Adrenal nutrients come in many forms, as my co-workers have explained.  What may not be understood is how you develop an allergy in the first place.  In a perfect system, the gland is capable of determining what substances are harmful and which are not.  Unfortunately most of us are not that healthy, so when your stressed out body comes into contact with a foreign substance it may decide that this new food is bad for you.  After this initial exposure your body creates antibodies to that food. The next time you eat that food again your body remembers and releases massive amounts of chemicals that trigger a flood of allergic symptoms that can affect the respiratory system, gastrointestinal tract, skin, or cardiovascular system.
