Allergies and Asthma
According to the
American Lung Association an estimated 16 million Americans are affected by
asthma, a chronic lung condition characterized by inflammation of the airways.
Most asthmatics have an allergy to some offending agent. This allergy then acts
as the “trigger” that starts the inflammatory asthma process. It’s unrealistic
to think that we can avoid every asthma or allergy trigger. Reducing the
severity so we can live with these allergens and other triggers without
suffering should be our goal.

The Evelyn Files…
One of
the most comprehensive books on allergies and asthma that I am aware of is
called Allergy Free. The authors are Konrad Kail, N.D., Bobbie Lawrence,
and Burton Goldberg. This book states that you don’t have to live with allergies
or with a continuing cycle of drugs and their side effects. By treating what is
actually causing the condition, not only can allergies be reversed but your
overall health will be improved. This edition also contains some very
interesting case histories. Stop by our store and check out this fabulous book
or log onto www.alternativemedicine.com.
Good health to you always. Evelyn

answers questions:
Allergies
are a symptom of adrenal dysfunction. Asthma is a form of inflammatory allergy.
If the adrenal glands are not putting out sufficient levels of
adrenocorticosteroids and epinephrine (adrenaline) allergic responses cannot be
countered. This is why we are all exposed to the same allergens, though we do
not all have allergic responses to these allergens. Those with healthy adrenal
glands do not develop allergies because the adrenals put out sufficient levels
of immune modulating steroids, and antihistamine epinephrine. To build the
adrenals I recommend adaptogenic herbs. Examples of adaptogens are astragalus,
Siberian ginseng, suma, ashwaganda, Arctic root (rhodalia rosea) and licorice
root. Though not considered adaptogens nettle leaf, bee pollen, kelp, and amla
berries also help with adrenal function. The adrenals use more vitamin C than
any other part of the body. Amla berries are the richest herbal source for
vitamin C. The second most important nutrient for the adrenals is pantothenic
acid, which is highest in pollens.
All the above are available at

Tarah’s Corner-Spring
is here! It’s time for great weather, the Easter Bunny, and the ever-popular
allergy season. That’s right, because sneezing, runny noses and headaches are
back. Before you run to a doctor, why not stop by
Stay Healthy!
We have lots of supplements to take care of your allergies the natural way. My
favorite choice is the “Las Vegas Mix”, our product of the month. It is a
homeopathic remedy that is based on the common 8-14 pollens in the region.
Large doses of local molds and pollens cause allergic reactions. With “Las
Vegas Mix”, the allergy sufferer takes the same local molds and pollens in
homeopathic doses, jumpstarting the individual's own defense system against the
allergic reaction. So before you start hunting for those Easter eggs, make sure
you stop by Stay Healthy!,
your allergy relief headquarters. “Invite
change into your life, you’d be surprised by the possibilities.”

Speaking Words of Wisdom
Some allergies stem from a weakened immune system,
while many others are caused by an injudicious style of living and eating. Dairy
products (milk, cheese, etc.) are probably the biggest culprits due to their
forming of mucus in the body. They slow down the body’s ability to handle or
process common allergens or actually might be the allergen itself. Avoid these
foods for a period of time to see if that could be the cause of your allergies.
Chemicals in laundry soap, dish soap, house hold cleaners etc., are also a big
cause of allergies. Avoid all of these if they’re not petro-chemical free.
Strengthen the adrenal glands, for they control your allergic response by
releasing steroids and natural hormones. I like amla, nettles and olive leaf as
natural herb choices to help with allergies. As a last note, drinking plenty of
water is the most important defense of all, for keeping the body hydrated helps
everything work and function better.
