If you're battling high blood pressure, booze and bar munchies might be a dangerous combination. Italian researchers found that heavy drinking increases your body's sensitivity to salt, which in turn could raise your blood pressure. The research suggests that cutting back on your alcohol intake and avoiding salty snacks when you do imbibe may help keep high blood pressure under control.

This month’s theme is men’s health. Now more than ever, the older a man becomes the more he wants to perform like his younger counterparts.  Many male supplements are addressing such concerns as failing prostates, baldness, erectile dysfunction, sexual support, heart health, and mental acuity.  The first step is eating a diet high in organic fruits and vegetables and low in fried, processed junk food.  Combine this with 30 to 45 minutes of daily exercise to sustain overall wellness.  After diet and exercise comes safe and effective nutritional supplements as an addition to an overall healthy lifestyle plan.  For the heart  choose herbs such as hawthorn and cayenne, formulas that contain TMG, B-6, B-12, folic acid, red yeast rice, CoQ10, vitamin E, fish and flax oils.  Mental acuity is addressed with ginkgo biloba, gotu kola, periwinkle and phosphatidyl choline.  Prostate wellness involves saw palmetto, pygeum, lycopene, cornsilk and pumpkin seed.  Sexual support nutrients like yohimbe (not if you have high blood pressure), muira puama, tribulus, suma, nettle, wild oats, damiana, zinc and boron are very helpful.  Remember to ask our fine staff at Stay Healthy! about a good multiple vitamin containing green foods, antioxidants, grapeseed, bioflavonoids and rose hips.  Call us today at 877-2494 or stop in at 840 S. Rancho Dr. #14 to learn more about using appropriate supplements that deliver targeted nutritional support and other general benefits for male health.
Thank you so much for your patronage. Stay Healthy!

Lets talk about hair! Many things contribute to hair loss; hormone imbalance (testosterone overproduction) blocked follicles and stress.  You can help balance your hormones by eating a well balanced diet.  You can reduce your stress by finding a hobby or a sport that you can get really into.  Watch a ballgame or better yet go play a ballgame & take time for yourself everyday, listen to music or whatever it takes to unwind.  Last but not least, please use sodium laurel sulfate-free shampoo. Sodium laurel sulfate can block the hair follicle.  GOD Bless You.

Our modern lifestyles come scheduled  with work, family, leisure, & self all jostling for time. All too often, our bodies pay the price. To build a healthy body, & more importantly to maintain it, a good supply of nutrients are needed. I believe a healthy diet is necessary to help protect us from disease. It ‘s  important to get protein, good fats, fiber, vitamins, minerals, & plenty of water in your diet. Protein provides the body with nutrients essential to build muscle. Fat provides stored energy for the body which is burned up when needed. Fiber helps to keep us regular & cleanse the bowel. Vitamins help maintain everything from healthy digestive & immune system, to good skin. Minerals play a key role in maintaining body structures including hair, teeth, & bones. Water is the most important of them all. Water makes up 50-70% of our total body weight. Water plays an important role in the absorption of nutrients, our circulation, & the elimination of waste material. Stay Healthy!  has a variety of vitamins, minerals, & supplements. Stop by & check us out!

J.C. Speaking Words of Wisdom
Every man should begin or should base his health regime on a multi-vitamin-mineral. Some of the best are wholefood based, which means they actually contain concentrated real foods. Another approach would be to get your vitamins and minerals from greens like chlorella, barley grass, wheat grass etc., which are nature’s true superfoods. “5GREENEST” greens formula supplies every known vitamin and mineral and all eight important enzymes. There are a lot of different types of supplements to enhance or tone what men need most, like prostate, immune, and heart health. Herbs can contribute greatly to enhance health and fitness levels like Siberian ginseng, jiaogulan, schisandra, etc. These are tonic herbs that balance and strengthen body functions. Look for “Supreme Chi-Flow” tonic herb formula for natural energy and immunity. Stay away from caffeine and other stimulants they make you weak in the long run. Exercise and stress reduction techniques are just as important as supplements for optimal health. Try to include moderate weight lifting and some type of fitness regime into your daily lifestyle. Read to stimulate the mind and meditate or go out to nature to balance the spirit.

Knowledge applied is wisdom…

Nik Notes: It can be very difficult for most men to talk about their health.  Illness may be interpreted as weakness, an attribute that men do not find acceptable.  How can we overcome this hurdle and still maintain our health with no fear or apprehension?  GET OVER IT!  All of these rules for being a man are out-dated and self-destructive. Look at the social advances that women have made in the last century!  As medicine advances it seems that women are more likely to take an active approach in maintaining their own health, while most men leave their health responsibility to their doctor or avoid it all together.  Why do women statistically live longer than men?  Women know how to communicate; they can relate their problems in a way that is pro-active, while most men will tolerate their conditions until they can no longer be ignored.  Think of your health from your mother’s point of view, how would she feel if you died from something you could have prevented!  To improve communications, write down or rehearse what you want to say beforehand, or just make out a list of problems.  Bring someone with you to the doctor or the health store if you need support.  No one knows your body better than you do, so speak up!
Silence is golden, but speaking is healthy!
