Words from us…
Wayne’s World
Today’s natural first aid product
manufacturers offer old as well as new standbys, including aloe gels, herbs,
balms, and salves in sprays, rubs, and tiny pills to provide the needed relief.
Natural remedies often work by stimulating our body’s ability to regenerate and
to heal itself. For many a muscle ache, use arnica, available in tinctures,
creams, liquids, and those tiny pills. Aloe is a widely-accepted measure for
instant pain relief, providing cool soothing relief of burns, cuts, and scrapes.
Aloe is also used as a spray-on wound cleanser and irrigator as well as
promoting anti-inflammatory properties. Calendula (Marigold) is also
anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, good for bruises and wound healing. Extra
virgin olive oil is good for dry cracked skin, oil of oregano for cuts and
scrapes. Plantain is also for cuts and scrapes and topically for poison ivy. Tea
tree oil is for stiff joints and muscle aches. Wintergreen is for mostly
muscular pain relief, while white willow bark reduces inflammation and is used
for pain relief. The use of the above herbs have applications topically, in
pills or capsules, liquids, as external ointments and creams, or as a wash or
compress. Bandages and miscellaneous salves/rub are key pieces to keep in your
medicine cabinet or as a travel first aid kit.

Jenny's Jive:
Aaaggghhh … the frequent bumps,
scrapes, & bruises. What do you do? Is there anything natural that can be used
for these minor injuries? Yes there is! There are many natural remedies for
common first aid use. Arnica is excellent for bruises (if applied topically
minutes after injury). Studies have shown if taken internally, as well as
applied externally, that arnica speeds up healing of bruises. Colloidial silver
promotes the healing of cuts & scrapes. Tea tee & comfrey based salves are great
for sore & aching muscles. Clove oil has been researched to be a good toothache
analgesic. Everybody should have a supply of aloe vera gel in their first aid
kit. Aloe vera can be taken internally, but the most accepted universal use of
aloe vera gel involves its topical healing & soothing action on various skin
disorders, including burns, wounds, & minor skin ailments.
There are so many other natural remedies that can help
with the scrapes & bruises of life. Call us at 877-2494 to inquire.

Positive Vibrations:
Summertime is
here!!! And we all love to do things outdoors or even around the house such as
cleaning out the garage, doing spring cleaning (you are late), going camping,
trail hiking, weekend excursions to the mountains or just working out and
getting in shape. Some times these activities can bring out the little bumps,
bruises, scratches, scrapes, stresses, strains and aches and pains associated
with these activities. Here at
Stay Healthy!
we have
a wide variety of natural and very effective first aid products to aid in your
recovery. If your household has its fair share of black eyes, fingers smashed by
hammers or car doors, or people who like to bounce off of edges of furniture or
martial artists in training, then let me tell you about the importance of having
arnica ointment around. Arnica ointment is very effective in healing major and
minor bumps and bruises as long as the skin has not been broken. Calendula
ointment is very good for scratches and scrapes and can be applied to broken
skin, because its’ blood clotting properties are also good for deep wounds and
cuts. Castor oil is one of the best emergency remedies because it is excellent
for drawing out impurities such as stepping on a rusted nail or walking on a cut
barefooted. Castor oil has drawing power up to 4 inches deep. All bits of rust
and other nasties are drawn out completely, preventing all kinds of infection.
Comfrey ointment is good for burns, blisters, and scar prevention as is aloe
vera gel.

Speaking Words of Wisdom
First aid is a subject that we
all can use from time to time. Accidents can happen at any moment, so what do
you do if you have a small cut or scrape? Tea Tree oil is like a first aid in a
bottle, for its’ antiseptic qualities make it great for any general skin first
aid like cuts and scrapes. To stop bleeding of small cuts, apply straight
comfrey root or cayenne pepper powder as they help the blood coagulate and
disinfect the wound. Fresh aloe vera is just about the best thing you can use
for burns and rashes of all types. Clove and lavender oil mixed together are
great for bee stings or ant bites because they kill the pain. Got something in
your eyes? Make a tea out of chamomile and eyebright and use as an herbal
eyewash. Arnica flowers made into a tea is great as a poultice for bumps and
bruises. Herbs like whole fennel seeds (chewed), ginger and peppermint tea are
good for upset stomach (for children use catnip tea). Semi-precious stones can
be used as natural talismans for protecting your body against certain aliments.
For example, wearing rose quartz around your neck protects the thymus gland from
radiation, and carrying smoky quartz protects you from negative thoughts and
sickness. Use “Rescue Remedy” by Nelson Bach for all emotional imbalances from
sudden traumas like car accidents, deaths, or bad news. The best medicine of all
in just about all situations is a sincere I love you and every thing will be
all right. Hope you have a safe summer, stay healthy and keep a positive
attitude.

Nik Notes: Burns
can occur in many forms. Whether they result from heat, chemicals, electricity
or radioactive material, burns can cause life altering injuries. Severe burns
require intense medical attention, while a mild burn (like sunburn) can be
treated at home with topical and internal applications. Colloidal silver has
been used as a topical antiseptic for many years and has been proven to reduce
incidents of infection. Aloe Vera is the most common topical application partly
due to ease of use, as it is water-soluble, non-greasy and well-absorbed. Aloe
gel should be applied 3-5 times per day. Calendula cream can be applied to
sooth pain and help promote tissue repair. Animal studies show calendula to be
anti-inflammatory and to aid repair of damaged tissues.
