Cardiovascular disease is
recognized by Dr. Matthias Rath as “not a genuine disease, but the result of
long-term deficiencies of vitamins and other essential nutrients in millions of
cells of our bodies – and it is preventable”. Read his excellent book about the
heart listed on the front page. Dr. Rath believes that animals don’t get heart
attacks because they produce vitamin C in their bodies, as opposed to humans.
He also lists a ten step program for cardiovascular health on pages 22 and 23.
Start out your supplement program with a good quality multiple vitamin that will
give you basic cellular health. Other people have advanced health problems
(high blood pressure, coronary heart disease, heart failure, high cholesterol,
high triglycerides, diabetes) and need certain essential nutrients in higher
amounts. These nutrients are found in various formulas sold at Stay Healthy! and
include Vitamin C and the B-complex, coenzyme Q-10, carnitine, magnesium and
calcium, taurine, Vitamin E, arginine, bioflavonoids, proline, lysine, cysteine,
minerals, trace elements and pycnogenol. These specific nutrients include
powerful antioxidants that scavenge free radicals, stabilize the blood vessel
walls and capillaries, improve the pumping function and performance of the
heart, and normalize different forms of irregular heartbeat. These supplements
have many important functions in the body and are crucial to good heart health.
Please come to Stay Healthy! and take advantage of our free literature and staff
knowledge to assist yourself or loved-ones to learn about these most significant

Jenny's Jive: Through
the years Americans have become accustomed to unhealthy eating habits, smoking,
stress, & lack of exercise. Little do people know that these unhealthy habits
increase the risk of cardiovascular disease. Cardiovascular disease affects one
of the most important organs, the heart. This small organ about the size of a
baseball & weighing between 8-12 ounces can be protected. Clinical research has
proven herbs & vitamins to be helpful in the prevention of cardiovascular
disease. Hawthorn, derived from the leaves, flowers, & berries of a European
shrub, is one of the world’s most effective heart supplements. It increases
blood flow, improves circulation, & normalizes the heart beat. In addition to
improving symptoms, regular use of this herb may reverse cardiovascular
disease! Please visit us soon to learn more about hawthorn.

Positive Vibrations: :
Cardiovascular disease is a general term that includes heart attack, stroke and
other disorders of the heart and blood vessel system. It is the number one cause
of death in the
United States
. An estimated 50 million Americans have heart and blood
vessel disease, although many do not know it because they have no symptoms. Two
important factors used in assessing cardiovascular health are blood fat
(including cholesterol and triglycerides) levels and blood pressure, so have
them checked regularly. Half of all heart attack deaths occur within 3 to 4
hours of the onset. Eat fiber such as cereals, vegetables and fruits. For
protein, eat broiled fish and skinless turkey and chicken which are low in fat.
Garlic and onions in your diet will help reduce serum cholesterol levels. Eat
plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. Five or more servings reduce the risk of
stroke by 39%. Add nuts, olive oil, salmon, trout, tuna, herring and mackerel.
Avoid coffee. Caffeine puts you at greater risk of heart disease. Also avoid
tobacco, alcohol, chocolate, sugar, butter, red meat, fats (animal) and
hydrogenated oils, fried foods, processed and refined foods, soft drinks, spicy
foods, and white flour products. Drink at least 64 oz. of steam-distilled water
every day. Studies have found at least 5 glasses every day resulted in a 51%
lower risk of heart disease for men, and for women the risk was 35% lower.
Eliminate all sources of sodium from your diet. Read the labels. Last but not
least – keep your weight down!!! Obesity is a risk factor for heart attacks and
hypertension. Get regular exercise and for your nutritional and supplementation
guidance please come in to

Speaking Words of Wisdom
Chronic high blood pressure or hypertension affects about a quarter of the U.S. adult
population and contributes to half a million strokes and more then a million
heart attacks each year.
A normal blood pressure reading is roughly 120 over 80 or less.
Relax and Breathe: Relaxation techniques
may include muscle relaxation exercises, guided imagery, meditation and
deep-breathing exercises (breathe out longer on the exhalation). Try chi-kung or
yoga for added benefits.
Food and Diet: A combo of carrot, beet, parsley, and spinach juice
alkalizes the kidneys and blood, thus eliminating the excess acidity that is
usually a contributing factor to hypertension (also provides organic minerals
and active enzymes which enhance nerve functions). Eating more raw organic foods
and less processed foods is also very important.
Life style and Exercise: Even a single session of exercise can reduce
blood pressure. The best type of activity is prolonged but not necessarily
strenuous exercise, such as walking, jogging, cycling or tai-chi-chuan.
Supplementation: Herbs like garlic, hawthorn, and cayenne are
standard and can be taken everyday for life. Jiaogulan is a great tonic herb for
strengthening the heart muscle.
Affirmation: I joyously release the past. I am at peace.
Spiritual: Remember that a sad or broken heart can
manifest on the physical level. Pray for yourself and others that have hurt you.
Do something healthy for yourself by visiting nature, or take a trip and
celebrate life.
Knowledge applied is wisdom…
Nik Notes: The
heart is a marvel of engineering! While it could be considered the hardest
working muscle system in the body it does have its limitations. Unfortunately
these limitations are normally due to our own actions, thus we are usually the
ones to blame in the event of heart failure. Everyone else is writing about
diet, supplementation or exercise, so I will talk about the situation. Heart
attacks and strokes are rarely predictable, sneaking up on us while we perform
normal everyday tasks. To make the situation even more complicated, the first
stages mimic other health complications. By far the most common is indigestion,
because it feels like a heart attack, and while thousands of people go to the
emergency room thinking they are going into cardiac arrest, they rarely are.
This is why some people have a heart attack while thinking they have
indigestion. Crazy isn’t it? At first you do the right thing by going to the
hospital, but the next time you have chest pain you don’t because you’re
embarrassed that you might be overreacting.
Step 1: Eliminate indigestion!
