Homeostasis is defined as balance and harmony within the body. It is the
condition created when each cell in the body functions and remains within
certain physiological limits. Homeostasis can be achieved when the body (1) has
proper amounts of gases, nutrients, ions and water, and (2) maintains the
optimal internal temperature. When homeostasis is disturbed, it may affect
health in a negative way.

Words from us…
Wayne’s World
Cardiovascular (CV) Disease is still the number one
cause of death in the U.S. The CV system is comprised of the heart and blood
vessels. What can go wrong? Angina or chest pain, a heart attack,
arteriosclerosis, blood clots in the coronary arteries (supplying blood to the
heart), and high blood pressure. Signs of a heart attack may include: a heavy,
tight pain in the chest area (often extending to the shoulder, arm, neck, or
jaw), sweating, nausea, vomiting, shortness of breath, dizziness, fainting,
feeling of anxiety, difficulty swallowing, sudden ringing in the ears, and loss
of speech. If you have any of these symptoms, even if they last only a few
minutes, contact your doctor immediately. For preventative measures to undertake
long before any of the above symptoms manifest, please read further in this

Gina Says: There are several
remedies to benefit heart disorders such as arrhythmia and congestive heart
failure. CoQ10 is one that I have seen great results with. CoQ10 is Japan’s
best selling vascular medicine. It is widely recommended to repair heart damage
and to boost the function of the heart, as well as a preventative used to
safeguard against heart attacks and valve damage. Arjuna relieves pain and
helps heart muscle cells build up energy reserves. Astragalus relieves pain on
exertion. Elecampane with Guggul relieves shortness of breath on exertion and
also gives better pain relief than nitroglycerin. Hawthorn improves blood flow
to the heart. Kudzu improves coronary circulation and reduces the heart’s need
for oxygen. Motherwort strengthens the heart without accelerating the
heartbeat, perfect if a nervous condition or an over-active thyroid exists. If
you have congestive heart failure avoid turmeric. There are several great
alternatives to drugs and you can find them at

Jenny's Jive:
Through the years Americans have had a lifetime of
unhealthy eating habits, smoking, stress, & lack of exercise. Little do people
know that these unhealthy habits increase the risk of cardiovascular disease.
Cardiovascular disease affects one of the most important organs, the heart. This
small organ about the size of a baseball & weighing between 8-12 ounces can be
protected. Clinical research has proven herbs & vitamins to be helpful in the
prevention of cardiovascular disease. Hawthorn, derived from the leaves,
flowers, & berries of a European shrub is one of the world’s most effective
heart medicines. It increases blood flow, improves circulation, & normalizes the
heart beat. In addition to improving symptoms, regular use of the herb may
reverse disease! Please visit us soon to learn more about hawthorn!

Speaking Words of Wisdom
Heart problems can be more then just on
the physical level, for I believe that many heart problems begin on the
emotional/spiritual level. Yes a sad, broken or heavy heart can cause problems
on the physical level. The Heart is the master organ that harbors the Shen
(spirit), according to Traditional Chinese Medicine. It’s not yet
scientifically proven but the Chinese have believed for about 5000 years that
emotions reside in the organs. The heart controls the mind and the negative
emotions of indifference and the positive emotions of love, and when functioning
properly other organ systems function harmoniously. A heart system that is
strong and healthy would present itself as an “all-embracing love”.
Affirmation to open the heart chakra: “I’m open to receive love and I express
my joy freely”.
Herbs can strengthen and tone the heart muscle such as hawthorn, capsicum
(cayenne) and jiaogulan along with other nutrients like lecithin, Vit-E, CoQ10,
and magnesium. A simple Chi-Kung (energy work) exercise to do is to stand
straight with arms on the sides. Reach out with both arms like you're gathering
energy from the universe, using your mind to visualize a healing green energy.
Bring this soft glowing energy into your heart region, letting it fill you with
love, light and energy for all things in your life past and present.
May Peace Prevail on Earth.

Nik Notes:
Heart health is as essential as the care given to any other system. The cardiac
system is solely responsible for providing nutrients and oxygen to the body.
We take this action for granted as we live our lives because the heart is an
involuntary muscle and in fact you couldn’t make it stop if you wanted to!
Regardless of its unseen actions the heart may need help to correct any problems
that may arise. A frequent malady in our society is cholesterol deposits along
the arterial walls. These deposits inhibit the flow of blood at the necessary
rate, creating a smaller passage to force blood through. This closure of the
arteries creates a list of problems, from higher blood pressure to irregular
heart beat. These problems take years to develop, for as the plaque slowly
builds the heart gradually works harder. Surgery is usually the only course of
action in this situation, because the blockage has gotten to the point that it
cannot be relieved by nutritional therapies. If this scenario is unchanged the
end result may be misunderstood as something else, such as indigestion. In
order to avoid the undesirable outcome of this situation try to include
nutritional supplements such as garlic, cayenne and lecithin. Lecithin is a fat
emulsifier, liquefying arterial plaque so it can be removed by the blood and
filtered through the liver and discarded. Take care of your heart and it will
take care of you!
