Are there dangers from alcohol besides the
amount that is consumed?
Yes. Even moderate amounts of alcohol can have toxic effects when taken with
over-the-counter drugs containing acetaminophen. If you are taking
over-the-counter drugs, be especially careful about drinking and don't use an
alcoholic beverage to take your medication. Ask your doctor about precautions
for prescription drugs.

Wayne’s World
Our liver is an amazing organ, performing over 500
different tasks. The liver stores important vitamins and releases them into the
blood stream when your body’s supply is low. The liver also manufactures
glycogen and stabilizes the blood sugar levels. This organ detoxifies poisons
and toxins, removes waste products and manufactures bile and cholesterol, plus
it processes digested fats and proteins. The liver filters 2.5 pints of blood
per minute when the body is at rest. It is made up of 300 billion hepatic cells
and is the largest organ on the inside of the body, weighing in at approximately
three pounds when it is healthy. Did you know that this incredible liver that we
each have can still function even if as much as 90 percent of it is removed?!
The liver has an incredible ability to regenerate itself and grow back to normal
size. When disease completely destroys the liver, a liver transplant is
possible, but why not take care of “Mr. L” before liver disease such as
cirrhosis, cancer, or hepatitis occur. Read on for further information in this

answers questions:
Hepatitis
literally means inflammation of the liver. The inflammation may come from
various sources such as viral, bacterial, or fungal infection, chemical damage
or autoimmunity. Inflammation of the liver leads to an increase of certain liver
enzymes which are used as a marker of liver damage. If these enzymes remain
elevated over 6 months, liver damage is suspected and a viral hepatitis liver
test is performed. Contrary to popular belief these tests cannot tell you if you
have viral hepatitis or not since not all antibodies are specific to their
intended targets, and these are antibody tests. This creates a problem known as
serological cross reactivity, which commonly yields false results. For this
reason hepatitis should be treated by covering possible viral, bacterial,
fungal, chemical, and autoimmune damage to the liver. My favorite liver
protecting herbs are turmeric, schisandra, bupleurum, and licorice root. To kill
microbes associated with hepatitis I recommend chaparral, pau d’arco, amla,
phyllanthus, picrorrhiza, and small doses of poke root. To cleanse the liver I
recommend bupleurum. Milk thistle helps with liver protection and regeneration,
turmeric offers more benefits than milk thistle in hepatitis. Finally it is
important to avoid liver damaging pharmaceutical drugs including
over-the-counter pain relievers, Rogaine (minoxidil), cholesterol-lowering
statin drugs and some anti-fungal, antibiotic, and antidepressant drugs to name
a few.

Tarah’s Corner-The
Liver is quite possibly the most important organ in our body. Some people
overlook the liver when it comes to health. But did you know that 1 in 10 people
will get some type of liver disease in their lifetime. The liver protects our
body and filters out any toxins. The liver is also the only organ in the body,
aside from the skin that can regenerate itself. Your liver detoxifies
everything in your body, from what you eat to what you put on your skin, and
even what you breathe. Drinking alcohol and taking prescription medicine can be
dangerous for your liver. If you are going to live the lifestyle and “drink it
up” you should consider taking Liver Care by Himalaya. This is one of
the oldest products in our store and the number one selling product of its kind
in the world! Even over prescription drugs. This product can be used by
everyone and is very safe. There are also lifestyle changes and diet changes
you can make to protect your liver. Keep alcohol consumption to a minimum, at
the most two drinks a day, do a liver detox and incorporate exercise into your
life. You will find yourself feeling healthier and more vibrant. -Tarah
“Don’t automatically
assume that a pill that dissolves in your stomach is more powerful than a
healing thought that dissolves in your mind”.
Gina says
– The liver serves many valuable functions for the body including
maintaining proper blood sugar balance, water balance in the blood and tissues,
detoxifying the body, synthesizing and breaking down cholesterol, breaking down
excess hormones, bile production, blood volume regulation, and production of
clotting factors. Symptoms of a poorly functioning liver include excessive
sleeping, low energy, hormone imbalances, jaundice, elevated cholesterol, blood
sugar problems, acne and other skin disorders, weight gain, and digestive
disorders.

Speaking Words of Wisdom
The liver is responsible for more than 500 biochemical functions in the body. A
healthy, nurtured liver is key to overall good health. The liver serves to
activate the vital energy of other organs, regulate the activity of vital
energy, store and regulate the blood and control thinking. Stagnation of liver
chi through such negative emotions as frustration or anger may interfere with
the normal smoothing and regulating function of the liver. There are a lot of
time-proven Chi-Kung exercises to help cleanse the negative emotions from the
liver. The positive emotions of the liver are patience and kindness, the healing
color is green and the cleansing mantra (sound vibration) is Shhh. One Chi-Kung
exercise is to breathe in the positive associations (patience and kindness)
combined with the healing color (green), then breathing out the negative
associations (anger and frustration), using the healing sound Shhh to push out
the negative emotions through the eyes and fist. Example: stand or sit, begin
to breath in the positive emotion and healing color, then as you breath out
punch with your fist and send the negative emotions out through your eyes and
fist, opening the eyes wide then relaxing them. Repeat 3 times. Chinese
master herbalist’ rarely use single herbs, so look for a time proven traditional
formula that will detoxify, rebuild and tone the liver. Last but not least, just
putting your hands over your liver is very healing as chi (energy) flows through
the hands as in Reiki and Quantum-Touch.
