Words from us…
Wayne’s World
Wow,
it’s hot in the valley of fun! High heat and humidity in summertime can cause
the body to work extra hard to maintain its normal temperature and slow the
natural evaporation process of sweating. Common sense suggests staying indoors
with air conditioning and fans whenever possible. Remember to never leave
children or pets alone in a closed car. Drink plenty of fluids, mainly quality
water, herbal teas or sports beverages.
Stay Healthy! has a
fine array of products for this, including new and excellent electrolyte
replacement (Trace Minerals Research is spectacular in this department). Eat
light, well balanced meals regularly and pass on alcohol. If you must work
outside in the sun, avoid the hottest part of the day and replace the fluids
lost in sweat. Take breaks and always check frequently for signs of heat stroke
(the body loses its ability to regulate its own temperature). If you feel
unusually hot, dizzy, confused, or weak, immediately go somewhere cool. Heat
stroke is characterized by hot and dry skin, the inability to sweat, a racing
pulse, rapid or shallow breathing, a temperature of 105◦ or higher, sometimes
delirium or loss of consciousness. Clearly heat stroke requires immediate
attention, so call 9-1-1. Have a heat stoke victim lie down in a cool place with
their feet slightly elevated. Gently apply cool water to the skin and follow
that with fanning to stimulate sweating, if possible apply ice packs to the
armpits and groin. The young, the elderly, and people who work outdoors are at
the greatest risk. Heat stoke is a life-threatening condition. Read on for
further staff suggestions or call us at 877-2494.
Thank you so much for your patronage. Stay Healthy!
Jenny's Jive: A
hydrating body recipe for skin that is dehydrated and taut
or the most severe rough, dry skin conditions, here is one of nature's remedies.
1/2 cup sea salt
1/3 cup body lotion (free of parabens , sulfates, & artificial colors or dyes)
3 tablespoons jojoba oil (organic preferably)
Mix body lotion, jojoba oil, and sea salt. While in your shower, massage the
mixture all over your body. You can concentrate on the problems areas. Then
shower as usual with a cleansing type of body oil or cleansing gel. If you like
to take baths, soak in a milk bath. Milk is good for the skin because of its
hydrating properties, which promote moisture and prevents dryness.

Positive Vibrations:
Hydration – the
key to good health and life. About 75% of Americans are dehydrated and don’t
even know it, in one-third of Americans the thirst mechanism is so weak that is
often mistaken for hunger. Even mild dehydration will slow down one’s metabolism
as much as 10%. Lack of water is the #1 trigger of fatigue. A mere 2% drop in
body water can cause fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with cognitive and basic
math skills, and difficulty focusing on a computer screen or on a printed page.
Preliminary research has shown that drinking 5 to 10 glasses of water daily
could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of those suffering,
also decrease the risk of colon cancer by 45%, decrease the risk of breast
cancer by 79%, and bladder cancer by 50%. Are you drinking the amount of water
you should every day? Another thing you have to consider about hydration is to
get the water to go into your cells of your body. To do this you have to give
your body electrolytes. Electrolytes are vital to one’s health and survival.
They are positively and negatively charged particles (ions) that are formed when
mineral or other salts dissolve and separate in water. This characteristic of
electrolytes having a charge is important because the current enables the
electrolytes to regulate how and where fluids are distributed throughout the
body, which includes keeping water from floating freely across cell membranes,
then helps maintain a state of fluid balance. A well balanced diet usually
supplies and adequate amount of electrolytes, but if your diet is not adequate
then come on in to

Speaking Words of Wisdom
Be cool with
cool thoughts. Do you believe that your mind power can influence your physical
body? You should, because it’s scientifically proven that what you say and think
can manifest on the physical realm. Do you say, “I’m hot” or “it sure is
miserable outside”? Well guess what, you just made yourself hotter!
Water, water, water, how many times a day do you need to hear about the
importance of this precious liquid? The human body is 75% water and needs at
least 2 liters (64 ounces) a day just to function properly. When the human body
lacks water, many systems immediately function poorly. Water is used for brain
function and everyday energy along with digestion, circulation, elimination, and
healing. What else can enhance your cool summer days? Electrolytes are minerals
in your blood and other body fluids that carry an electric charge. It is
important for the balance of electrolytes in your body to be maintained, because
they affect the amount of water in your body, blood pH, muscle action, and other
important processes. You lose electrolytes when you sweat, and these must be
replenished by drinking lots of fluids. Electrolytes exist in the blood as
sodium, calcium, potassium, chlorine, magnesium, and bicarbonate. Look for a
good natural mineral supplement with trace minerals and ad this to your water or
juice everyday. Herbs can help you stay cool. American ginseng is a great herb
to keep the body cool. Use this herb in capsule or liquid form and make sure it
is an extract. Hibiscus is another herb that has been used for hundreds of years
to keep the body cool. Hibiscus is best used as a tea, drink it everyday for
many healthy benefits. Another tip is to wear light colored, absorbable, loose
fitting clothes like 100% cotton or hemp.
