Searching for ways to push the
longevity envelope?
Including plenty of antioxidant-rich foods in your diet (translation: eat
your fruit and veggies!) and taking antioxidant supplements is the cornerstone
for living longer. It also makes sense to limit consumption of foods that
generate free radicals (such as fried, processed, and high-fat foods) as well as
meat and processed vegetable oils (a source of trans fatty acids). Instead,
focus on longevity power foods such as cruciferous vegetables, green tea and
adaptogenic herbs. Anti-aging foods are easy to spot because they are minimally
processed, wholesome items that traditionally line the perimeter of your local
grocery store.

Wayne’s World
There is much scientific
understanding about the human body and the aging process existing today. One
thing is certain for men and women, and that is the inevitable process of aging
and dying. While we are not on the cusp of immortality, health-enhancing
supplements are available to decelerate our unwinding biological clocks. Maybe
the human body just isn’t designed to last forever. But if we examine the major
age-related health difficulties (cardiovascular diseases, problems with
cognition and memory, prostate health for men and menstruation/menopause for
women), preventative measures can and should be undertaken. This is what men and
women can do now: practice proper personal care, have a clear understanding of
what can happen in the body with age, maintain good relationships, eat well,
exercise, drink good water and use appropriate supplementation. These measures
will stave off the crippling effects of age so we can relish in our golden
years. Our knowledgeable and attentive staff at Stay Healthy! can assist you in good health
with a wide selection of quality supplements and information. Call us today at

Hormone balance is
absolutely necessary for good health and vitality. The New Chapter herbal
formula ESTROTONE is one of the best on the market for females ages 10 – 110.
The first herb in this product is Schisandra “ . . . a cherished item among the
Chinese women as a sexual enhancer and youth invigorator.” [The Little Herb
Encyclopedia:p.214] It is an adaptogenic herb, which helps the body handle
stress, and balances the adrenal glands. Black cohosh is a natural source of
phytoestrogens (plant-based estrogens). Vitex works on the pituitary to help
the body produce progesterone. ESTROTONE also contains ginger, rosemary and
evening primrose.
Good health to you always. Evelyn J

answers questions:
Though most
symptoms of menopause are due to a condition known as “estrogen dominance”, hot
flashes are due to a drop in estrogen levels. Over 350 plants have been found to
contain very weak estrogen compounds, known as phytoestrogens. Phytoestrogens
are on average 250 to 400 times weaker than estrogens produced by the body. This
is important because the weak estrogen-like structure allows the phytoestrogens
to lock up estrogen receptors, which blocks the actions of stronger and more
dangerous estrogens while still exerting a weak estrogenic effect. Though most
phytoestrogens containing herbs can help control hot flashes, the most effective
of these herbs are motherwort, sage, and damiana. Rice bran is another excellent
choice for hot flashes due to its high level of gamma oryzanol. Rice bran is
rich in B vitamins, which help the liver detoxify excess estrogens in the body
to maintain proper hormone balance. One of the best herbs for hormone balance is
vitex (chaste tree berry), which stimulates the pituitary gland to form
progesterone. Keep in mind though that vitex takes at least 2 months to take
effect. The mineral boron is also important for postmenopausal women. Boron has
been shown to help balance hormone levels, and in medical studies has been shown
to prevent bone loss in postmenopausal women not taking estrogen replacement
therapy. Only 3mg a day of boron is required to prevent bone loss.
Tarah’s Corner-
I
believe if you have a health problem you should tend to it in the most natural
way possible. It makes so much sense to feed your body the nutrition it needs
instead of loading up on medicine that is a temporary solution and could cause
more problems than you had to begin with. A lot of men and women have hormone
imbalances. The four main causes are diet, environment, prescription drugs and
stress. There are many herbs men and women can take to balance their hormones.
For women, black cohosh, vitex, and dong qui. For men maca, tribulus
terrestris, and sasparilla. I can recommend many other natural ways to better
your health. So come over to Stay Healthy!

J.C. Speaking Words of Wisdom
The health of each
individual depends on what I call “The Trinity of Healing” the Body, Mind, and
Spirit, connected as one. Some people have healthy bodies, they feel good most
of the time, they look good from the outside, but they’re lacking in morals and
a calm clear mind free of stress and negative thoughts. In contrast many have a
strong mind, positive attitude but forget to take care of their body, and nearly
all people fail to connect their spirit with overall health, or better yet,
exuberant vitality.
A true natural approach to a healthy lifestyle should and would have to include
a Body, Mind, and Spirit connection. Each of us is unique with our own spiritual
beliefs, sources of inspiration and outlook on life, but we all need to
understand the trinity of vibrant health. Air, water, food, herbs, etc., fuel
the body, which in turn needs to be exercised in order to properly distribute
and utilize the energy conversions. Mind power is will power and the body
listens to every word you say, so it makes perfect sense that to feel great you
have to say “I feel great everyday”, “I am 100% healthy”, etc. The most
important part is the spirit connection, or heavenly guidance, which means
prayer for divine healing, asking the universal powers for Love, Light and
Energy.
Knowledge applied is
wisdom…
NIK Notes: In my short life I have observed that health
depends on attitude. Why does it seem that bitter people live longer than happy
people? Perhaps it’s a result of one’s attachment to pain. Learn to release
your grip on the things that bind you and perhaps those bonds will turn to
stilts, propelling you toward happiness and comfort.
